Phewa Lake, also known as Phewa Tal or Fewa Lake (referred to as फेवा ताल in Nepali), is a freshwater lake situated in the southern region of the Pokhara Valley. Formerly named Baidam Tal, it encompasses various areas, including Pokhara City, Sarangkot, and Kaskikot. It stands as the second-largest lake in Nepal after Rara Lake, also known as Mahendra Tal (रारा ताल ), and the largest in the Gandaki Province when compared to other water bodies in Nepal. It boasts an average depth of around 8.6 m (28 ft) and a maximum depth of 24 m (79 ft). The lake’s water capacity can hold up to 43,000,000 cubic metres (35,000-acre⋅ft). A river feeds this lake, but there is a barrier that helps regulate the water flow. As a result, it is considered a semi-natural lake.
