The name Kapuche is derived from the words “Ka,” which means snow or ice, “Pu,” which means breaking down and sliding; and “Che,” which means landing on flat land. It means fallen ice that has settled on a valley forming a glacial lake.

Snow-capped mountains surround the lake and are in a calm environment. There are occasional avalanches that bring snow from the slopes to the lake. However, boating has no provision as it is not appropriately explored. The lake’s temperature can reach sub-zero during winter, and the surface can turn into ice.

Kori Danda Trek

Kori Danda Trek is a popular trekking route in the Himalayan region of Nepal. It is located in the Annapurna Conservation Area and is known for its stunning views of the Annapurna range, including the famous Machapuchare peak.

The trek starts from the village of Kori Danda, located 2,400 meters. From here, the trail winds up to the top of Kori Danda at 3,400 meters.   • Day 01: Drive to Sikles from Pokhara ( approx 2 hours); Sikles is a village that embodies Gurung culture and traditions.
  • Day 02: Trek to Hugu Goth (5 hours)
  • Day 03: Hike to Kahphuche Lake 2450m (Kapuche Lake) and back to Hugu Goth (2 hours 30 min to go up)
  • Day 04: Trek to Nohtha (5 hours)
  • Day 05: Trek to Kori Danda (3800m), approx 5 hours
  • Day 06: Trek back to Sikles
  • Day 07: Drive to Pokhara
